Where the name comes from
ADOCHS stands for Archive & Digital Organization of Cultural & Heritage Sources — but the name has a deeper story. This domain was originally home to a Belgian academic research project that studied quality auditing for cultural heritage digitization: metadata quality, Linked Data, and image processing standards for archival institutions. That project, funded by Belgium’s federal science policy office (BELSPO), helped museums and archives across Europe preserve their collections to a higher standard.
We inherited that mission — and that institutional commitment to preservation quality — and brought it home. The same standards that guided national archives now power our guides for families. Because your family photos deserve the same archival care as a museum collection.
